China Tianying Attended "2023 China-Malaysia Economic Cooperation Outlook Forum" and Delivered Keynote Speech
2023-03-28

On March 25th, 2023, Cao Debiao, the CEO of China Tianying (CNTY), attended the "2023 China-Malaysia Economic Cooperation Outlook Forum" held in Kuala Lumpur. Over 500 representatives from China and Malaysia, including Ouyang Yujing, China's Ambassador to Malaysia, Chen Guowei, former Special Envoy for China Affairs of the Malaysian Prime Minister, Quan Shunji, President of the China-Asia Economic Development Association, and Li Taikang, Executive Director of the Malaysia-China Business Council, participated in the event.

During the opening ceremony in the morning, Ambassador Ouyang proposed three suggestions for China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation: first, to deepen the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative; second, to enhance trade and investment liberalization, facilitate the resilience and sustainability of industrial and supply chains; and third, to explore the potential for cooperation in new emerging industries such as digital economy, green economy, artificial intelligence, and big data, to create new growth points for the China-Malaysia economy. Chen Guowei, former Special Envoy for China Affairs of the Malaysian Prime Minister, stated that the close cooperation between Malaysia and China has not been affected by the pandemic and other unfavorable factors. In the future, the two countries should focus on sustainable development, improve people's livelihoods, and strengthen cooperation in important economic areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, and education. Quan Shunji, President of the China-Asia Economic Development Association, said that Malaysia has unique resource advantages, and Chinese companies have advanced technology and successful experience. Both sides should further deepen complementary and mutually beneficial cooperation. Li Taikang, Executive Director of the Malaysia-China Business Council, also pointed out that the economic development of Malaysia and China is highly complementary. The two governments and enterprises should further strengthen cooperation in sustainable green economy, agriculture, education, tourism, and other fields to achieve common development.

During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Ouyang had a friendly exchange with Cao Debiao, the CEO of CNTY. Cao introduced CNTY as a private listed company with domestic and international market presence. Currently, CNTY's domestic business covers 29 provinces, and its foreign business is spread across 17 countries worldwide. CNTY is confident in the Malaysian market and hopes to assist Malaysia in building waste-to-energy projects, circular economy industrial parks, and investing in new energy and other businesses. Ambassador Ouyang fully recognized the achievements of CNTY and believed that the company has great potential in Malaysia's environmental protection and new energy industries. He wished CNTY success in its projects and achievements in the Malaysian market.

In the "China-Malaysia Infrastructure and Industrial Park Cooperation Forum" held in the afternoon, Cao Debiao, on behalf of CNTY, delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Brand New Lifestyle with Green New Energy." He first introduced the basic situation of the company, including its main business, domestic and international business layout, R&D technology, and industrial chain. In typical business cases, Cao not only introduced CNTY's waste-to-energy projects in Vietnam, Indonesia, Maldives, Singapore, and other countries but also focused on new energy business cases, including the Jiangsu Rudong 1.2GW solar power generation + 100MWh gravity energy storage project, Jiangsu Hai'an Circular Economy Industrial Park project, Inner Mongolia Tongliao 10 million-kilowatt wind-solar-hydrogen-ammonia integrated zero-carbon industrial park project, etc., demonstrating CNTY's comprehensive strength and advantages. Finally, Cao also introduced the various exchange activities between CNTY and Malaysia and expressed CNTY's intention to cooperate in individual projects and jointly build new energy zero-carbon industrial parks. The speech received strong interest and cooperation intentions from the leaders and representatives of participating enterprises.

After the forum, Cao Debiao and Dato' Lim Kok Boon, the General Treasurer of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) and CEO of L&Co Chartered Accountants, engaged in in-depth discussions on Malaysia's economy, history, and culture, and reached agreements on follow-up visits, frequent communication, and specific project cooperation. On the evening of the 25th, at the "2023 Malaysia-China Business Exchange Night and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Malaysia-China Cooperation Committee of the China-Asia Economic Development Association", Cao Debiao attended as the leader of the Malaysian business delegation and presented a gift on behalf of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector to the newly elected committee.

During this visit to Malaysia, Cao Debiao and his delegation also visited TNB, the National Energy Company of Malaysia, to explore potential collaboration opportunities in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. They also had a friendly exchange of views on CNTY's intention to invest in and cooperate on local development projects in Selangor with the administrative councilor for local government, public transportation, and new village development affairs, Mr. Wong Sih Heng. Furthermore, Cao Debiao and his team held face-to-face discussions with relevant personnel from partner companies such as China National Nuclear Corporation Malaysia and China Energy Engineering Group Malaysia, all of whom expressed the belief that Chinese-funded enterprises should join hands, share resources, and work together to develop the market and ultimately achieve project success.

Despite the short duration of their trip, the CNTY delegation's visit to Malaysia has yielded positive results. They have not only consolidated strategic partnerships with their business counterparts but also deepened exchanges with various industries in Malaysia, thus expanding CNTY's influence in the Malaysian market and laying a solid foundation for future expansion.

As invited by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), which is under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), CNTY will participate in the "Malaysia-China Economic and Trade Forum" on April 1, 2023, in Beijing. This important event is one of the first visits by the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Anwar Ibrahim, to China after assuming office. At the forum, government officials, including the Prime Minister, Ministers of International Trade and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Transportation, Housing and Local Government, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Tourism, will engage in on-site exchanges with numerous Chinese-Malaysian enterprises in order to further deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
